The National Executive Committee (NEC) of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has appointed Prof. Nentawe Yiltwada, the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, as the party’s new National Chairman.

His appointment was confirmed during the ongoing NEC meeting at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, following the formal resignation of Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje on June 27.

The nomination of Prof. Yiltwada was put forward by the Chairman of the Progressive Governors’ Forum (PGF) and Governor of Imo State, Senator Hope Uzodinma, and was promptly seconded by Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Tajudeen Abbas.

Yiltwada, a technocrat and academic, previously contested for the governorship of Plateau State under the APC and has served in various public service roles before his current ministerial position.

His appointment comes at a crucial time for the party as it gears up for internal restructuring and strategic planning ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The ongoing NEC meeting is set to deliberate on major party matters, including zoning arrangements, membership expansion, and plans for upcoming off-cycle elections.
