Reality TV personality Anita Natacha Akide, widely known as Tacha, has expressed criticism toward Nigerian youths for their limited participation in the country’s crucial challenges.
On X, Tacha tweeted that today’s young Nigerians are timid and reluctant to make sacrifices for national progress, contrasting them with previous generations who boldly fought for power and risked their lives for their convictions.
She expressed disappointment with today’s youth, stating that they are more focused on leaving the country, creating online content, and chasing comfort rather than engaging in nation-building activities.
The reality TV star drew parallels between the current generation and the past, highlighting the bravery of earlier Nigerians who participated in national power struggles.
The former BBNaija star, however, clarified that her criticism was aimed at highlighting a broader issue affecting the current generation of Nigeria, rather than targeting individuals
“Listen, my generation of Nigerians are the dumbest and most cowardly, funny how we blame the ones before us for ruining Nigeria, Ex president Buhari in his 20s was part of a coup fighting for what he believed in.
“What are today’s 20-year-olds up to? japa. Believe me when I say, we’ve not just failed the next generation, we’ve buried it. Back in the day, young Nigerians were fearless about taking a stance in national affairs.
“Nowadays we are more focused on lining up for visas, crafting catchy tweets and chasing clouts online.”
“Yall ask ‘what have you done?’ I used my voice. I speak, I show up, I refuse to be quiet. This tweet is about me or anyone. It’s about a whole generation that is too afraid to prioritise the nation’s interest over their own comfort.” Tacha tweeted.
